The Tyne Boat Builders

One of the objectives we set ourselves at Team Tyne Innovation when setting out on our Atlantic challenge was to demonstrate that the spirit of innovation in the region was very much alive and we have achieved this by incorporatingĀ innovative products and services developed by North East businesses and universities on our project.

The north East has a great history of innovation across all walks of life and this extents to rowing.

We are therefore delighted that Ian Whitehead has written the first of two blogs in which he highlights the part played by the Tyne boat builders in the 19th century in the development of the sport of rowing.
